Rules and Regulations Guiding General Conduct of Students.
Preamble:
The School of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Calabar is an academic institution set up by
the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Calabar after due approval by the Nursing and Midwifery
Council of Nigeria (N&MCN) for the main purpose of training psychiatric nurses and other health
care workers. In order to fulfill this mission, candidates who gain admission into this institution are
essentially bonded by these set of rules and regulations which are formulated in line with the
provision by these supervisory organs of government.
The following rules and regulations are therefore adopted in good faith in order to facilitate the
smooth running of the school. Therefore, this section of the Handbook is called and cited as:
“Rules and Regulations for Students of the School of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Calabar”

Shift /Off-Duty Entitlements
The official time for the commencement of lectures in the school is from 8.00am to 2.30pm daily;
Mondays to Fridays and students are entitled to 30 minutes break. Loitering is not allowed.
Students are expected to be in their school uniform while in school, the Clinical Area, official time
for commencement of duty is :-
Morning duty: 7:30am to 2:00pm
Afternoon duty: 1.30pm to 8pm
Night duty: 7:30pm to 8:00am
